For Discreet and Easy STI Testing, Come to ApproXie Urgent Care.

Sexually transmitted infections (STIs), commonly known as sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), are widespread among people of all ages in the United States. STIs are particularly rising among younger individuals. There are numerous known STIs in the US, categorized as follows:

  • Bacterial: These STIs, such as chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis, are generally curable with antibiotics.
  • Viral: While viral STIs cannot be cured, many can be managed with medication prescribed by a healthcare professional. Some, like HPV, may resolve on their own. Viral STIs include HIV, genital herpes, HPV, and Hepatitis B & C.
  • Parasitic: Common parasitic STIs include pubic lice and scabies, which can usually be treated with medications and creams.

STIs often come with specific symptoms, such as burning during urination, itching, discharge, and sores. It’s crucial to get tested if you experience any of these symptoms.

Common STIs include:

  • Chlamydia
  • Genital herpes
  • Genital warts
  • Human papillomavirus (HPV)
  • Gonorrhea
  • Hepatitis B
  • Syphilis
  • Trichomoniasis
  • Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), which causes AIDS
  • Pubic lice

Many people may not realize they are infected because some STIs have no symptoms. You could be infected for years without knowing it. Even without symptoms, STIs can still cause damage to your body.

Treating STIs

While many STIs can be treated or managed with medication, untreated STIs can lead to serious issues. It is highly recommended to get tested if you are sexually active, even if you have only one partner. Testing can be done even if no symptoms are present. Experts often use the term sexually transmitted infections (STIs) to highlight that infections can exist without disease symptoms.

Regular testing is important as untreated STIs can lead to:

  • Increased risk of infertility
  • Certain types of cancer
  • Transmission to sexual partners
  • Harm to an unborn baby if pregnant
  • Increased susceptibility to HIV infections

The nurse practitioner and her assistant in training are amazing here! They both had perfect bedside manner and made me feel comfortable in a stressful situation. I needed a breast exam in a rush since I was leaving the country for four months. They made me feel like everything was going to be okay and ordered me an ultrasound immediately! Every OBGYN in town turned me down and one even told me it would be impossible to get any kind of testing done within a week, but they got the job done! I highly recommend visiting this urgent care! They are very kind, empathetic, and great at their jobs!

I’ve been several times. The clinic is absolutely beautiful and so clean. I have been seen and discharged in under 45 minutes each time, even when waiting on test results. I love that they are professional and friendly. And Dr. Allman is the BEST!

Every single time I visit ApproXie, I’m surprised by the efficiency. I don’t know how they do it, but they manage to spend as much time with me as I need while also keeping the wait short. I’ve never had a bad experience here and I refuse to go to any other urgent care as long as this one is open. I recommend ApproXie to everyone!

I visited ApproXie after being sick for several days and not feeling better. I love this place – the doctor that cared for me was wonderful and one of the most attentive and thorough practitioners I have ever seen. I was diagnosed with pneumonia and I think if not for her care I would have ended up in hospital. The nurses are wonderful too and again just so professional, knowledgable, and attentive. Check in is easy and the front desk person was super friendly and made that process easy too. I was in and out in under an hour and that was after having a chest X-Ray and breathing treatment. Best urgent care ever!
