How Do Rapid Results COVID-19 Tests Work
A Rapid COVID-19 test is designed to swiftly detect the presence of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). It involves using a swab from your nose, which is then placed into a testing cartridge capable of identifying COVID-19.
Rapid COVID tests are commonly used to check for an active COVID-19 infection. There are various types of Rapid COVID tests:
- Antigen Tests: These over-the-counter tests detect proteins on the virus’s surface.
- Molecular or PCR Tests: These tests identify specific parts of the virus’s DNA/RNA. They are generally more accurate and can detect the virus at lower levels and earlier than antigen tests.
It’s important to note that rapid tests are different from antibody tests. An antibody test shows if you have had a previous COVID-19 infection and developed antibodies, rather than detecting a current infection.

Make sure to verify your destination’s requirements before getting tested. We cannot offer refunds for tests ordered too early or incorrect tests. I visited ApproXie after being sick for several days and not feeling better. I love this place – the doctor that cared for me was wonderful and one of the most attentive and thorough practitioners I have ever seen.
