COVID-19 Antibody Testing
According to the CDC, COVID-19 is a respiratory illness caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus. To determine if you’ve previously had COVID-19, you can undergo an antibody test. Antibodies take time to develop, so it’s recommended to wait about three weeks after exposure before getting tested.
Since the COVID-19 antibody test is a serologic test, it requires a blood sample to detect the presence of SARS-CoV-2 antibodies. Note that this test does not indicate if you currently have COVID-19. For a consultation, whether virtual or in-person, contact ApproXie Urgent Care.

Understanding Antibody Test Results
Antibody test results are typically available within 1–3 days.
- Negative Result: Your blood did not have SARS-CoV-2 antibodies.
- Positive Result: Your blood contained SARS-CoV-2 antibodies.
Please note that no test is 100% accurate; false positives and false negatives can occur.

- Wear a Mask: Cover your nose and mouth.
- Wash Your Hands: Use soap and water for 20 seconds or a hand sanitizer with 60% alcohol.
- Keep Your Distance: Maintain two arm-lengths or 6 feet from those who do not live with you. Avoid crowded places.

COVID-19 Antibody Tests
It’s recommended to wait about three weeks after exposure to COVID-19 before undergoing an antibody test to allow time for antibodies to develop.
An antibody test requires a blood sample. The blood is tested to detect the presence of SARS-CoV-2 antibodies.
A negative result indicates that SARS-CoV-2 antibodies were not found in your blood. A positive result means that antibodies were detected. However, this test cannot confirm if you currently have COVID-19.
No test is 100% accurate. There is a possibility of false positives or false negatives with antibody tests. If you have concerns or symptoms, consult with a healthcare professional.

I visited ApproXie after being sick for several days and not feeling better. I love this place – the doctor that cared for me was wonderful and one of the most attentive and thorough practitioners I have ever seen. I was diagnosed with pneumonia and I think if not for her care I would have ended up in hospital. The nurses are wonderful too and again just so professional, knowledgable, and attentive.
